RevenueCat sends Tolt every App Store and Google Play purchase through a webhook. When the buyer is an app user who claimed a partner's code or opened a partner's app link, Tolt records the purchase and creates the partner's commission.
Setup has two parts: connect the RevenueCat webhook, then add the Tolt SDK to your app so users can claim a partner's code.
Before you start
You need access to your project settings in RevenueCat.
Adding the SDK needs a change to your app, so you'll need your app developer for the second part.
Connect RevenueCat
Go to Settings › Integrations and click Add integration. Under RevenueCat, click Continue setup.
In RevenueCat, go to Project settings › Integrations › Webhooks and choose Add new configuration. Copy the Webhook URL from Tolt and paste it there.
Copy the Authorization header value from Tolt and paste it into the Authorization header value field in RevenueCat. This tells Tolt the events come from your RevenueCat project.
In RevenueCat, choose Production as the environment and save the configuration.
In the same RevenueCat webhook, turn on HMAC webhook signing and copy the signing secret it shows. Paste it into Signing secret in Tolt.
Optionally, under Settings, switch on Exclude tax or Exclude app store fees to calculate commissions on the amount before tax or after the store's fee.
Click Save integration.
Tolt now receives your RevenueCat purchases, renewals and refunds.
Add the Tolt SDK to your app
Partner links don't survive an App Store or Google Play install, so in an app, Tolt credits the user instead. Your app claims a partner's code for the user, for example on a "Have a code?" screen, and every purchase RevenueCat reports for that user is credited to that partner.
Share the code under Add the SDK to your app on the RevenueCat setup page with your developer. It includes your program's public ID.
Your developer configures Tolt when the app launches, and claims the partner's code when the user enters one.
The app must claim the code under the same user ID it gives RevenueCat. That ID becomes the customer's ID in Tolt.
Partners can also share an app link instead of a code. When a user opens it, your app claims the partner for them in the same way.
The setup page shows the Swift code for iOS. There's also an Android SDK, and apps on other platforms, such as React Native or Flutter, can call Tolt's claim endpoint directly. For the code, app links and claim rules, see Mobile apps in Tolt's developer docs.
Test the integration
In RevenueCat, click Send test event on the webhook. It only checks the connection and doesn't create anything in Tolt.
In your app, claim a partner's code as a test user and make a production purchase.
The customer appears under Customers, as a lead until the purchase arrives, and the commission under Customers › Commissions.
What Tolt tracks
RevenueCat event | In Tolt |
A subscription transaction
A one-time transaction
A refund of that transaction
The customer moves to the new app user ID
Other events, such as expirations and billing issues, are ignored. Each store transaction is only recorded once, so RevenueCat's retries never create duplicates.
Good to know
Sandbox and RevenueCat Test Store purchases never create commissions. Only production purchases do.
A purchase only counts if the app user claimed a code, or opened an app link, under the same user ID the app gives RevenueCat. Purchases from other users are ignored.
The first code a user claims wins. Later claims don't change their partner. Codes match whatever the case, so sam20 claims SAM20.
If a purchase arrives before the claim, Tolt can still credit it when the app also stores the code on the RevenueCat customer. The SDK code on the setup page does this.
Tolt uses RevenueCat's USD price. If your program uses another currency, Tolt takes the price in that currency when the user paid in it, and converts from USD otherwise.
A refund sets the transaction's unpaid commissions to zero. Commissions that were already paid get a negative commission.
RevenueCat shows the signing secret only once. If you lose it, rotate it in RevenueCat and paste the new one in Tolt.
To stop tracking, click Delete under Delete integration at the bottom of the setup page.
