Webhooks send your app a request whenever something changes in Tolt, such as a new partner, customer, transaction or commission. Use them to sync data to your database, send notifications or connect other tools, without checking Tolt for updates.
Add an endpoint
Go to Settings › Webhooks and click Add Endpoint.
Enter your Endpoint URL and, optionally, a Description.
Under Subscribe to events, select the events to receive. If you select none, the endpoint receives every event.
Click Create.
Tolt now sends an HTTP POST request to your endpoint each time one of those events happens.
Event types
The Event Catalog tab lists every event and what's in it.
Event | Sent when |
A partner is created or updated.
A referred customer is created or updated.
A partner link is created or updated.
A transaction from a referred customer is created or updated.
A commission is created or updated.
Payload format
Every request has a JSON body with three fields:
data: the object the event is about, such as the partner or transaction.type: the event type, such aspartner.created.timestamp: when the event happened, in ISO 8601 format.
This is a shortened partner.created payload in JSON:
{
"data": {
"id": "part_123",
"first_name": "Jane",
"last_name": "Doe",
"email": "[email protected]"
},
"type": "partner.created",
"timestamp": "2025-04-23T13:00:51.351Z"
}
Failed deliveries and replays
Tolt delivers webhooks through Svix. If your endpoint doesn't respond, Svix retries the message on its retry schedule. Retries stop if you disable or remove the endpoint.
To resend messages you missed:
Go to Settings › Webhooks and open the endpoint.
Under Message Attempts, choose the message.
Choose what to replay:
Replay this message only: resends the one message.
Replay all failed messages since the first failure: resends every failed message from then on.
Replay all missing messages in that time range: resends every message you didn't receive in that period.
Good to know
Webhooks are asynchronous. Delivery is usually fast but not guaranteed to be instant, so don't rely on them for steps where your app needs an immediate answer, such as onboarding.
Verify the signature of every request to confirm it came from Tolt. See Svix's webhook verification guide.
You can also allow only Svix's IP addresses to reach your endpoint.
The Logs and Activity tabs show the messages sent to your endpoints.
